Getting Around Mangawhai
Mangawhai Estuary is tidal so depending on the tide times it may be
more suitable
to enter and/or exit at the Village or at the Heads
At the Village
the entrance point is a public reserve at the end of
Pearson Street
(see map) From Mangawhai Village you turn into
Molesworth
Drive (the road to Mangawhai Heads) and Pearson Street
is the second
on your right (just past "The Hub") There is a reserve
with ample
parking along a short metal drive at the end of the street

At the Heads
there are two entrance points:
The Lincoln
Street Reserve is accessed from Molesworth Drive (the
main road from
the Village to the Heads) at the "Naja" corner turn
onto Moir
Point Road then left into Suffolk Street and follow Lincoln St
down to the
reserve. This is a safe, shallow great kayaking area very
close to the
big sandhills but is not as suitable at low tide. There is
ample parking
at the reserve
The North Ave
Reserve is further along Molesworth Drive past Wood St
(where the
Heads shopping area is) The next on the right is North Ave
which leads
directly down to the water (just along from the boat ramp)
There is ample parking at the reserve
